Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 4, 2026

1. Information we collect

We collect:

  • Account data: GitHub ID, username, display name, avatar, public profile information, email if provided by the login provider
  • Profile data: bio, location, skills, college or city, links, and other details you choose to add
  • Content data: posts, replies, likes, follows, project entries, images, code snippets, and reports
  • Technical data: IP address, device/browser information, logs, cookies, and usage analytics
  • Support data: messages you send to us and complaint details

We collect only what is reasonably necessary to operate Dev Run.

2. Why we process data

We process personal data to create and maintain your account; authenticate you through GitHub or another login provider; display your profile and content; operate feeds, follows, replies, likes, and notifications; prevent spam, abuse, fraud, and security incidents; respond to support requests and grievances; improve performance, safety, and features; and comply with legal obligations.

3. Legal basis and consent

Where required under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, we process personal data based on your free, specific, informed, unconditional, and unambiguous consent, given through a clear affirmative action such as creating an account or accepting these Terms.

You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account or contacting us. Withdrawal may limit your ability to use Dev Run.

4. Public information

Your public profile and public posts may be visible to other users and, depending on settings, to visitors and search engines. Do not post passwords, private keys, personal addresses, phone numbers, government IDs, or other sensitive information.

5. Sharing of data

We may share limited personal data with service providers (hosting, email, analytics, storage, moderation, and security vendors); login providers such as GitHub to authenticate your account; legal authorities where required by law, court order, or valid government request; and successors if Dev Run is transferred, merged, or acquired, subject to applicable law.

We do not sell your personal data.

6. Data retention

We retain personal data while your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. After account deletion, we may retain limited data in secure backups for a limited period, in logs required for security or legal compliance, in replies or public copies made by others, and where retention is legally required.

7. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to your personal data, correction or updating of inaccurate data, erasure of personal data, withdrawal of consent, grievance redressal, and nomination of another person to exercise rights in specified circumstances.

Send requests to devrun.in@gmail.com or use in-account settings. We aim to respond within the timelines prescribed under applicable Indian law; DPDP Rules refer to a maximum response period of 90 days for such requests.

8. Children’s data

Dev Run is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we learn that a child has created an account, we may delete it and associated personal data. Where a child’s personal data must be processed, verifiable parental or guardian consent is required under the DPDP framework.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including encrypted connections, access controls, secure authentication, and monitoring. No online service can guarantee perfect security. Use strong credentials and do not share sensitive material publicly.

10. Data breach

If a personal-data breach is likely to cause harm, we will notify affected users and applicable authorities as required by Indian law, with information about the incident and protective steps.

11. Cookies and analytics

We may use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and improve Dev Run. You can control cookies through your browser, but blocking essential cookies may break core features.

Product analytics (PostHog)

Dev Run uses PostHog for optional product analytics. Analytics is only enabled after you explicitly accept it — it is separate from, and not implied by, your acceptance of these Terms.

When analytics is enabled, the following types of data may be collected:

  • Page views and navigation paths within DEV RUN
  • Feature interactions such as creating commits, starring, replying, following developers, and searching
  • Device and browser information (browser type, screen size, operating system)
  • A pseudonymous analytics identifier stored in your browser (localStorage and a first-party cookie). This identifier persists across sessions and is not fully anonymous.
  • For authenticated users, analytics events may be associated with your Supabase account identifier (a random UUID). Your GitHub username, display name, and email are not sent to PostHog.

Analytics data is processed by PostHog on infrastructure in the United States. PostHog’s privacy practices are described at posthog.com/privacy. We do not sell analytics data or use it for advertising. We use it to understand usage patterns, improve product functionality, and measure retention.

You can accept, reject, or change your analytics preference at any time:

Rejecting analytics does not affect account creation or application functionality.

12. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, communicated through the Service.
